Nordic skating

Nordic skates are either fitted with cross country ski bindings, or general purpose bindings you can use with any hiking boot. What's important is for the boots to give your ankles adequate lateral support. With cross country bindings and boots Nordic skating is more sport oriented, while hiking boot compatible versions promote a more laid back approach. Always bring a set of ice spikes with you - they are known to have saved lives in situations where ice strength was misjudged. Also carry a set of spare clothing in case you dunk.
