Marttiini Luujätkä Hiiliteräs

Practical and pretty, too: a puukko with bone trim and a carbon steel blade.

The Luujätkä puukko combines practicality with great looks. Its handle is heat treated and waxed birch, making for both elegance and good looks. The blade, again, is made of carbon steel offering great tool-like characteristics. It keeps its sharpness well and is easy to sharpen with regular whetstones. As usual for Nordic puukko knives, this model has a perfect blade angle for wood carving and it makes for an excellent bush craft knife. Heat treated and waxed birch handle with bone detail Carbon steel blade Blade length: 10 cm Total length: 22 cm Leather sheath included 3 year guarantee A carbon steel blade will serve you for years as long as you remember a couple of basics: dry the blade after each use and oil it regularly to keep it from rusting. Luujätkä Hiiliteräs translated from Finnish: “Luu” means bone, referring to the bone trim. “Jätkä” is a term for a traveling workman, most often a lumberjack. “Hiiliteräs” means carbon steel. Handles made of synthetic materials always look the same, but wood handles each have a unique grain pattern - this means the knife you receive will not match the product image 100%. Please note that we do not accept grain patterns as a reason for a product exchange. Marttiini knives produced after October 2023 are made in Estonia.
